Before making my decision on which uni to attend, i didn't really make much research on the university that i am attending, all i care about is the ranking, graduation rate, employment rate after graduation, and most of all.... the average pay the graduates receive upon employment...

and so, after when i finally set up my mind to attend Indiana University of Bloomington only i start to make the move and search how my uni actually looks like...

and from the website, this is what i get....

impressive huh?

but i was skeptic about it, saying how the pictures in the web side to be some sort of marketing strategy, and i believed that most of the pictures were photo-shoped before.... (well, i am more attracted to the fact that my uni is ranked top 10 party schools in the States.... heheheh)

When i first arrived here, oh boy......

I was on air for the past 24 hours, i was tired, and i had been staying in a city surrounded with tall sky-scrapers all around for the past 17 years, the USA that i have been looking forward to see is something like this...




but instead, i got myself landed in a alien place that looks like this....

sorry to say, but United States is not that appealing to me anymore....

they even got a mini forest, in the middle of the campus

and so, yes, i was quite depressed and cannot suit myself to the sudden changes of my surroundings... (i came from Penang, hello??)...

but as i spent more days here, as the classes start, as i start to adjust myself, as i make more friends, as i am more familiar with the system and surrounding, as i met people who talk to you as if they know u for ages when they just know you for less than 2 seconds, as i walked more around the campus that i think i can beat everyone else if i join the StarWalk back in Penang....

the only train track here in Bloomington, and it doesn't carry passengers.. X(

well, you get what i mean.....


and yes, i was hopping for something more of a hustling-bustling city, or something more happening in my campus, instead of a laid back small college town with very friendly people.....



something more like, let's say... New York? =)

there is a freaking tomb/cemetery near my dorm.. it's not the thieves i'm scared of at nights, if you know what i mean... heheheh

after the class started and i began to feel the momentum, i am not bothered about how sua pa my place is anymore.....

though it looks old, it looks boring, and it looks.... boring, i actually kinda like it over here....


it has a highly ranked Business school, not to mention top musical and arts school as well... (can u read that... i even bold it for you... lol)

cuz well, i already have enough pressure from my assignments and homeworks, so the quite and peaceful surrounding is a great bonus to offset the pressure that i am facing....

hectic schedule + beautiful, peaceful surroundings = happy me

ah, maybe i should mention this as well....




Bloomington is one of the safest town in the USA.....

behind the trees is the undergraduate business school

which means, u can literally walk alone in the dark.....

the fugly red clock that was placed all over the campus, reminding you not to be late for class

(of cuz, u wouldn't want to take it for granted, IUB is in the top 10 party school remember? party=getting drunk??)

and owh, i'm not trying to freak you out, but as i read the paper the other day, the police found two dead, decomposed bodies somewhere near my campus.....

oookkkaayy, so it wasn't that SAFE after all....

but hey, i still can walk alone on midnights, i still can relax and happily enjoy my meal though i realized i forgot to lock my door, i still can cross the street knowing they will not honk or run onto me......

in Penang, i doubt if i even dare to walk alone, and wait for the bus on the street at 6am.....

PEOPLE...... the people here are friendly, or extremely friendly, according to a friend of mine who had stayed in New York for a year....


she said she freaked out to find out how friendly and nice the people here are.....




yea.... FREAKED OUT, you got me right....



of cuz, MAJORITY of the people are friendly, but not all.....




i'm not bitching here or anything....

but i realized one important thing after staying here for like, 5 weeks?.....

The Americans that we (ok, maybe just me...) idolized....

Guess what, Americans are trying hard to be, AMERICANS too....

sometimes, i feel that they are too proud, and some of them shallow, that they don't know anything outside the American World....



which makes me very proud of myself, as i am know a lot about the world, more than what the Americans know about Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton....

p/s: exams for this week is over; and this is the only day i have the free time to do something i like, =)..... but i still have tons of homeworks to do, and i have to get going and complete all of them, so that i can enjoy my weekend in purdue (which i hope will not be canceled like my previous Chicago trip... x_x)
